RayAnne lost her 2nd milk teeth.  I must say that she is really brave.  It was painful but she held back her tears.  I told her to wait a couple more day and go to the dentist to have it extracted but she was afraid it would drop out in her sleep and she may swallow her teeth plus her milk teeth are really really tiny.  Nontheless, I am proud of her.

We have been wanting to move out of our existing corridor 4 room unit for a while but it has never been a right opportunity.  David’s always away and since we know for sure for the next couple of months  he will be based in JB, we thought we may as well take advantage of the situation and start house hunting.  So the 14th December makes the official date we start our house hunting.  We have always wanted to get a corner unit but 10 years back, our financial status isn’t as sound as now so we settled for a corridor unit.  Since now, we are slightly more liquid, we thought it would be a good time to start looking for a more accessible corner unit which is nearer to the kids’ school.

 But things ain’t looking too bright.  I viewed the design and built units near the Yew Tee mrt station but it was not where near perfect.  The exterior of the flats looked really old and the layouts of the units were not to my liking.  Their tiny kitchen were about half the size of my existing kitchen and being a person who cooks on a daily basis, I found it really hard to accept.  I don’t think I can bear to work and cook in such a constraint space.  And they didn’t have bamboo pole holders built in for you to hang your laundry out to sun.  That was it, I had seen enough I decided to call it quits.  I am a sunny person and I need my clothes to get sun-ed.  Valuation of the houses were reasonable but the Cash Over Valuation was not.  I am not prepared to pay out 50 – 60k cash over valuation.

But we will continue to go house viewing until I see something I like and something I can afford.

When fetching Rayner from Growing Up, he was lugging one big present and when I asked him who gave that present to him and his teacher who happened to be standing around told me, he got 1st position in school, so we are rewarding him.  1st position for what? for being talkative ah???  His teacher laugh and told me, every year, they collect the report cards of all the students and do a within school comparison and his P1 results topped his standard.  I would have thought the 1st position would have gone to a student from De La Salle since it’s such an ATTAS school.

Rayner’s results are just the norm in Kranji Primary School because I think most of his classmates got similarly comparable results.  But still, it gave him motivation to work even harder because he now knows he will be rewarded if he works hard.  Hopefully he will not be as playful and careless next year.

I am taking 2 days because David has applied for childcare leave and it has already approved.  Hence we are going to spend some couple time and some family time together.  But for now, it’s just Christmas shopping.

For all the wrongs and mistakes I have done and made in my entire life, I have also probably also done some GOOD in order to deserve such wonderful and lovely children.  No matter how naughty or mischievous  our children can be (and trust me, they are totally capable of that), we should never never take them for granted as long as they are well and healthy.  They are special, unique and mostly importantly, ours!!! It’s all written on the birth cert!

What sparked this

A couple of weeks back, the little one complained that her classmates in school pushed her and she banged against the wall.  The next couple of days, she’s been complaining of chest pain.  I didn’t think much of it and chucked it aside.  Now, a couple of weeks later, she is still complaining of chest pain and that got me worried.  Could she have internal injuries?

I quickly made an appointment with Dr Tan (my faithful doctor).  The long and painful wait was well worth it.   The good news is she didn’t fractured nor cracked her tiny rib cage.  She is just suffering from a BRUISED ribcage and that according to Dr Tan could take a while to heal.  He prescribed a muscle gel for RayAnne and told me that there is nothing to worry about.  I also consulted him about her previous urinary tact infection problem.

He just told me to give her yogurt everyday and guarantee that I will never hear her complain about pain when peeing.  It’s a natural remedy.

And by the time we got home, it was already close to 9pm.  I bought waffles for the kids to eat while waiting for our turn.  And by the time we got home, I was dead beat tired but there were still tonnes to be done.  And the last person I expected to come and help me came to my rescue.

My 7 year old.  He helped me fold all the day’s dried laundry and packed his own shower bag, his sister’s shower bag and all the rest of the clothes back into the wardrobe while I hung up the new load of washed clothes.  All of these were done all by your truely everyday.  Come to think of it, the rays are no longer babies anymore, it is perhaps me who also thought there were babies and still young but in actual fact, they are capable to chipping in to help with household chores and can do a pretty decent job.  I guess these are what you call the fruits of labour.  After everything I have given up to care for my kids and hubby, I am finally enjoying the fruits now.  Fruits of MY LABOUR ah!  heehee

The conversation I had with Rayner while doing the laundry.

Rayner: Mummy, I help you fold the lanudry

Mummy: ok, thank you

Rayner: Mummy, you very tired ah?

Mummy: ya, today’s been a long day at work and we had to bring meimei to the doctor so I am super tired and my back hurts.

Rayner: Mummy, you old liao, I help you ok.  Next time you as old as mama, I also be here to help you.

Mummy: wah….*I was so emtional to hear that, my eyes literally welled up man!*

With his help, I could actually get to bed early because I was really tired.  I think he truely deserves a toy right and I want to get him something to show that I really appreciate what he has done for mummy.

This is truely a break for us…Friday’s a Public Holiday in Singapore so no work.  No Ephonics class for the little girl and no swim lessons on Sunday for the Rays because it happens to be the 5th Sunday of the month (lessons only run from 1st – 4th week).

David will also have the Public Holiday off so we initially planned to drive up to Johor Bahru to spend the night at the hotel he is staying because the kids are simply crazy about spending the night at Daddy’s hotel room.  Just the thought of sleeping in the hotel is enough to send their excitement level to rocket high levels.

But we were too tired to drive in Thursday night so we drove in Friday night instead.  Traffic wasn’t too bad…..Daddy bought us around for dinner and quickly went back to the hotel where the kids hogged the bath tub for the rest of the night.  It was a junior suite so it was spacious enough for the 4 of us, we only requested for a extra bed for Rayner to sleep in.  RayAnne slept with us in the king size bed.

Daddy went to work on Saturday and me and the kids went to a nearby mall to look see look see.  Nothing to buy so we just walked around abit, settled our lunch there before going to the hotel because the kids wanted to swim.  And I tot they were already pretty sick of swimming. heehee

David only spent a couple of hours at work and he came back early afternoon and since there’s nothing much in do in JB anyway and he doesn’t need to work on Sunday, we decided to go back and spend the rest of the weekend in our own pig sty……kekeke….

It was a simple break but refreshing one for the kids and us.

Felt not too long ago I posted about Rayner’s starting his 1st day of Primary 1 and in another month’s time (agar agar), he would be starting Primary 2.  Time really flies ah!

Last Friday officially marks the start of the year end school holidays.  Rayner was delighted. RayAnne’s child care would be closed for an entire week for renovation works so the pair would be spending next entire week with my in laws.

I have loads to do….I have already received Rayner’s 2010 booklist and have gotten 80% of the books from Popular Bookshop, the other 20% of the remaining stuff, I will have to get them from the school bookshop, he will also require a couple more sets of uniform.   His SPI bag is getting kinda dirty and I am really lazy to wash it myself so I decided to take advantage of the Kinderfun’s trade-in offer to get him another new bag instead plus he has already set his eyes on a black SPI bag so that’s on my To-Do List.  So much to do yet so little time….

For some reasons, Rayner refuses to do or touch any of his Primary 1 revision worksheets I asked him to practise on when he is at my in laws place and insisted that I get Primary 2 worksheets for him.  His rational is…I am in Primary 2 liao mah….I should be doing Primary 2 books already! For now he wins but I will still try to find my way to brainwash him to practise with his Primary 1 worksheets.

For RayAnne, I felt kinda bad because last year this time, I was so occupied with preparing Rayner and stuff for Rayner because he was starting Primary 1 and this year again, I am busy with his stuff.  So last night, I decided to do up something for the little girl.  I went online and surfed for a while before I found something suitable and starting making them for her.

She been having fun turning the wheels and attempting to read the words……I am glad she is learning it the fun way.

The kids have been crazy about Camp Rock even since it aired on OKTO 3 weeks back, especially Rayner.  He’s been telling me he loves the show especially the songs but I had NO IDEA he loved it so much.

I couldn’t stop laughing….hope it would also bring a smile to your face when you see him acting so drama baby…..wah piang….where the hell he got those genes from…neither David nor me is that VOCAL…..kekeke

Today on my way to work, I heard on the radio that it’s World Kindess Day and gerberas are being given out at selected MRT stations for you to give out to people whom you appreciate.  I was still thinking that how nice it would be to get a Kindness Flower….and right after lunch, I saw a lovely yellow gerbera with a World Kindness Day sticker attached to it.  I was totally AWWWWW and next was who who who….Never in a million years would I expect to get a gerbera on a World Kindness Day

Called Bee Ling, called Mandy but it was neither of them.  It was Ms Tan, our dear sweet Ms Tan….she got 5 gerberas….one for mandy, one for mei yee, one for ah liaun, one for me and one for herself……

Anyway, thank you Ms Tan….really brighten my tired soul this gloomy friday afternoon and bought about a huge huge smile…..now I feel so recharged.

At 5 years 8 months & 15 days…my little princess had her first tooth extraction, not by a professional dentist but by Yours Truely.  Her teeth are all pretty small in size compared to her brother so extracting it didn’t take much of an effort.  I was glad I did it because she could have swallowed her tooth eating her food as it was already very shaky.

She was brave, didn’t cry but was screaming each time I attempt to get a good grip on her tooth….I guess the intensity and fear naturally builds up especially in times like these.

Her brother lost his first tooth around the same time too……

Today Rayner’s primary school bought them to watch a musical called The Jungle Book.  He was so hyped up about the trip that he didn’t need me to remind him to pack his stuff.

And this was how he took notes from school to help himself remember what he needed to bring for today’s event.

This boy is especially protective and conscious about his stuff.  This was not the first time I have seen him clean his pencil case with wet tissue and followed by dry tissue.  He was also cleaning his ruler and pencils and pens.  Polishing them to the core before placing them neatly into his pencil case before putting it back into his bag.  He spent a good 20 minutes cleaning this precious transformer pencil case….

After packing everything up, the kids just lay on the sofa enjoying last night’s episode Daddy At Home…..dunno what, but everytime they watch the show, they would be giggling and giggling over their conversation…they simply found the show very funny!

Looks like the sun hasn’t been shining brightly down on us these couple of weeks.  Rayner fell down last week (thank god nothing serious) and he was down with gastric flu last friday and missed school.  Yesterday, he visited the school’s sick bay again.  The school called me late afternoon and told me he was running a fever.  After fetching Rayner, we went to fetch RayAnne.  Then RayAnne told me she’s got a tummy ache and had a few runs already.  Looks like he successfully passed his gastric flu germs to her.

Quickly bought them both to the doctor last night and the doctor confirmed it.  RayAnne’s gotten the gastric flu bug from her brother….exactly the same symptons as her brother and the brother somehow managed to got himself a new germ, viral fever.  So both kids didn’t go to school today, I dropped them off at my mother in law’s place.  I am so glad that in times like this, my mother in law stood out and lent her helping hand to me.    Seriously, she would be the last person on my mind that would HELP me…..even my parents can’t be here for me.  For those of you who had followed my blog long enough would know that I didn’t have a very good relationship with my mother in law.  Nothing serious but just a conflict of interest.  So as long as we don’t stay under one roof, everything would be A-Okay….

Rayner’s going to have to re-sit for the 2 papers he will be missing today and tomorrow.  Hope the sick spell will be over very soon……

This October has been a more and peaceful month for us.

This was the month that Rayner started riding on his 20 inch mountain bike.

This was the month RayAnne got rid of her trainer wheels.

This was the month Rayner lost both his front teeth at one go.

This was the month we got to spend really quality time with Daddy and sometimes, thinking back, it was kinda sad.  Why did we have to wait for such an opportunity to come by because we learn how to treasure the time we have with our love ones…..

Rayner’s birthday.  He had requested that I take the day off and send him to school that day.  It was not too much to ask for so I took a day off and spend the day with him and of course RayAnne too.

We woke up late, the kids requested for MacDonald breakfast so we had Mac for breakfast.  Then Rayner wanted to eat roast char siew rice for lunch and that was what we had for lunch before we walked Rayner to school.  He walked into the school gate without much fuzz after our usual kiss kiss and hug hug.  Looking at his back, I suddenly see my son growing up, not physically but mentally.  And with his Daddy always away, he has choosen to step up and be the man or boy of the family.  He has grown pretty matured over the past few months.

I stayed up past the hour of 2331 on the 26 October because that was the hour he was born.  I watched the clock ticked past 11.31pm and it felt like only yesterday when I just gave birth to him.  Happy 7th Birthday my boy!

Yesterday afternoon, I got a call from Rayner and he was crying over the phone.  It completely freaked me out.  He fell in school and because he was crying, the teacher spoke to me instead.  She wasn’t around to witness the fall but she told me he fell and hit the wall…..?????  I was like….huh?????

I didn’t feel too good.  I didn’t know what actually happened.  Did he hit the back of his head, was he hurt badly…..

Thousand thoughts were rushing in my head.  Wednesday got exams leh…..teacher said he was feeling giddy……did he vomit……which part of the head did he hit…..how did he fall……he did managed to dial my number so he should be ok right???……..it was killing me, I took time off from my boss and drove straight to school.

When I picked him up, he was tired and looking kinda distracted.  Quicukly bought him home and told him to rest.  Now, we monitor him…..if he vomits or faints…..I am going to rush him to the hospital.

Thank goodness, after 2 hours, he was back to his usual lively cheery self.  He was even able to stomach a big bowl of rice and fish.

This morning when I dropped him off at school, he was ok and I told him not to worry too much about the exams, he just had to do his best and it would be good enough for me and told him to be more careful in school.  He had apparently stepped on a puddle of water and slip.  He fell forward and that’s why he hit his forehead and right cheek.  Now what’s left of the fall is a little bump on this forehead and a little blue black bruise on this right cheek.

I am still feeling the aftermath of the incident…..I always get jittery when my phone rings when I am at work……..I think I will get myself a cup of tea to calm my nerves…..

Sunday night, David skyped me and told me he will demob from the platform on Monday and would be catching the monday evening 7pm flight back to Singapore.

Rayner happened to be standing near the computer and saw the messages between David and me and he got so excited he asked to chat with Daddy on Skype…

If I had not shooed Rayner off to bed, he could have gone on and on and on……he really really misses his Daddy….

So…..Monday night, off we went to the airport to fetch Daddy.

We got to spend a good one week with Daddy before he flew off again for the next assignment so in order to make full use of the precious time, we tried to make 24 hours like 48 hours and spend as much family time together as possible.

We bought Rayner to the Dental Clinic to have his 2 already loosen front tooth for extraction because it didn’t looked like it was going to drop off on it’s own and it’s starting to be crooked so we figured new adult teeth could be erupting already.

So here’s presenting my BoGay……heehee (this is number 3rd and 4th teeth)

We celebrated Rayner’s 7th birthday earlier because he will be away on his birthday.

The next few days were spending running errands and preparing for his next assignment.

And since RayAnne has been bugging me to bring her to the park to teach her how to ride her bicycle without her training wheels and Rayner too  has outgrown his BMX kiddie bike.   David bought a mountain bike for Rayner and RayAnne took over her brother’s BMX bike.  We would be getting a mountain bike for her once she masters riding on 2 wheels.

There’s Rayner on his new mountain bike….looks pretty huge right….I was initally kinda worried that he might not be able to handle the bike but he has proven us all wrong….

Her trainers wheels were tilted upwards so she can try to balance on 2 wheels…..And that’s RayAnne getting riding tips from Daddy!

And I must say I am very proud of RayAnne.  After one weekend, my baby girl has more or less got rid of her training wheels for good….now…she just have to perfect her riding and we would be able to get her her very own mountain bike too!   I really have to give credit to Daddy who was really patience with RayAnne and of course, the little girl’s courage and never give up attitude despite falling off her bike several times…..

It’s mummy’s who is KS lar so I made sure she was all protected and geared up……
