Never expected…

True friends are hard to find and come-by but I would never have expected mine to come by only when was I was almost 30 years old. It was around the time when I just had RayAnne and was looking around different baby forum and came across the Bayb Supplies Forum, it was there, I met Mandy, then followed by Kat, then followed by Careen and so on and so fro……it even turned out that YenLing turned out to be an old classmate of mine.

Our daily chat turned us into friends and since there was one common thing among us and it was being working mums and we all have kids around the same age, it was so much easier to talk and confine in them.

Day by day, we grew closer and closer……to the extend of being to talk to each other about almost anything……it has even come to the point were we would also be emotionally affected if one of us is feeling sad about something or go hysterically happy when something nice and pleasant happened to us.

But whatever it is, I am not complaining but more of reeling from happiness that I found you gals………I really don't know what to do if I didn't have you gals…….my emotional pillars of support!!!

Home Based Literacy Programmes

Learning Vision have recently introduced a home-based literacy programmes in Chinese and English at N2, K1 & K2 levels.

The home-based literacy programme is implemented as a supplement to enhance the children's reading skills.

The 2 home-based literacy programmes implemented are:

Rigby Literacy Readers
Every fortnight, time is set aside during Reader's Workshop in school to allow children who have read a book at home with their parent to bring that reader to school and read it to thier friends in class. There are also suggested extension activites found at the back of each book where parents can do with their children at home.

Xia Tai Yang Reading Programme
Once purchased, the set will be kept in school and after the child has learnt to read a book in school, it will be sent back to the parents with the CD so that the child can read to the parent. The CD helps parents who are unfamiliar with some of the chinese characters to read or check their child's reading (wow, this CD will be very very useful for me leh……kekekekek)

It is not complusory to purchase both the sets of readers as it doesn't come cheap. All in all, I think I paid like $80 for both. Since I am so so lousy at choosing the right books for the kids, I decided to go with what the school has choosen for them. But I can see, it will require lots of supervision from parents and we really have to make it a point to sit down and spend time to read with our little ones…..

Gone are the days……

Yesterday marked the last day of me feeding RayAnne. Within 2 months of attending childcare, she has masteredd the art and skill of feeding herself. Last night, she officially took charge of everything, and she surprised me by eating quite well and clean……

Without knowingly, my suffering days of having to care and to spoon feed 2 babies are coming to an end…..finally I have come to end of the tunnel and I can see LIGHT!!! hahahahaha

Rayner has already learnt to brush his teeth on his own (and I must say, he does it pretty well), he has also learnt to dress and undress himself without any aid. And he has been feeding himself for sometime already. He now also wear his own shoes and helps his sister to wear hers when he is done wearing his own shoes.

Recently, RayAnne has been displaying similar independance, like she is now feeding herself, she now no longer requires me to carry her to school, they now both walk hand and hand, knowing that they will be rewarded with biscuits when they reach school. And this morning, she attempted to wear her own t-shirt but she only managed to put her head through the neckhole which is already quite an achievement for her. Next, she would have to master the art of differentiating the front from the back and putting her arms through the arm holes……

My babies are growing up right before my eyes…….

It’s coming back and I call it KARMA…

Today, RayAnne refused to let me leave the house until I wore the RED top which she picked out for me……but I wanted to wear the WHITE top today……

Anyway, many months ago, I remembered the same thing happening but it was the opposite. I refused to let RayAnne wear which she picked out herself and insisted she wore what I picked out……tsktsktsk…..see see, this is what I call karma…….hahahahahah

Update on development…

Saw new photos updates on the walls of RayAnne’s class and saw my baby in them……from the photos, I can tell that she is starting to blend and merge in with the rest of class and and seemingly, is enjoying and paying attention in class……

Story telling time…..

Exercise time……

Play time……

Sunday…

Nothing much to do today, and there were a few garage sales happening so we bought the kids furniture hunting today……….

I have been wanting to get a shoe cabinet, a sofa set, a dining set and a washing machine……..

Furniture these days ain't built the way they were built during my parent's time anymore. My shoe cabinet is finally giving way after 5 years of service and so is my dining set……..We could not longer take the torture of seeing our clothes getting entangled together in a mess and our 3 seater sofa can no longer accommodate the 4 of us thus the idea of getting a bigger sofa set came to mind…….it's all about spending money isn't it…..haiz……

Exercise…

Saturday…

This is the first time the Rays are dressed in demim…..so me being the everything also must take photo mummy, made them pose for me……

Haiz, how come RayAnne smile like this one huh??? Next time cannot ask her to smile for me liao……

Doesn’t she look much nicer when she doesn’t smile for the camera???………

Food over mummy…

Today I bought a packet of pretz sticks hoping to distract RayAnne's attention so when I need to leave she wouldn't be doing her daily routine of hopping and jumping around.

And it work…….RayAnne was faced with a decision…..her teacher holding her packet of pretz sticks telling her if you don't cry, I will open it for you and verus me standing at the door saying byebye.

For a moment, she looked at her pretz sticks and she looked at me and looked back at her pretz sticks and finally turned and waved byebye to me without leaving her pretz sticks. Haiz, she really chose food over me, that girl didn't even bother to come out to the gate to say byebye to me leh, she just stayed in her class munching away her pretz sticks……Rayner wasn't that much distracted by the pretz sticks so he walked me to door, I gave him a hug and off I went and he was there doing his daily weeping sobby byebye…….

What will I do without my kids??? haiz…..

Infectious laughter….

I don't know about you but I always break into laughter myself whenever I hear RayAnne laugh…..her laughter is some sort infectious….hear it for yourself……kekekekeke
